Library House by Shinichi Ogawa & Associates
A living and dining room with six-metre high ceilings sits at the centre of this small white house in Japan by architects Shinichi Ogawa & Associates. The house was designed with a square-shaped plan, creating a symmetrical building where all rooms surround the central living space. A wall of bookshelves lines the edge of this room, while a long narrow skylight spreads natural light across the space and glass doors lead out to private courtyards at the north and south ends of the house.

Los Terrenos by Tatiana Bilbao
Bilbao conceived the new house, Los Terrenos (The Terrains), as a trio of small buildings (just under 2,200 square feet in total), each of which serves a specific function and emphasizes one of the three main materials in the project’s palette. The largest of these, a structure that contains an open living/dining/ kitchen space, is clad in mirrored glass, allowing it to disappear into the surrounding vegetation; its peak-roofed profile mirrors those of the mountains, and concealed doors open the interior to the terrace beyond.
